Some of the toughest water problems call for media that can do more than one job at once, and the PIONEER OX Oxidation and Adsorption Removal Cartridge is engineered for exactly that. Built around ATOMUS MD1 media for use with the Enpress NFS-HF-BYPASS cartridge tank, this patented filter simultaneously oxidizes and adsorbs a wide range of organic and inorganic contaminants, including heavy metals, without adding residuals to the water stream or creating harmful disinfection byproducts.

Oxidation and Adsorption in One Media

ATOMUS MD1 is a proprietary dry granular media designed to tackle difficult contaminants through fast kinetics, with an empty bed contact time of one to five minutes. The PIONEER OX cartridge can reduce hydrogen sulfide, color, tannin, organics, TOC, iron, and manganese, with potential removal of radium, phosphate, silica, lead, uranium, chromium, copper, zinc, arsenic, fluoride, Legionella, iron bacteria, and more. It is NSF/ANSI 61 certified and tested to USEPA TCLP and California Wet Tests for maximum removal capacity and stability against pH upset.

The cartridge is rated for residential, commercial, and industrial use, including make-up water, RO prefiltration, cooling towers, chill water loops, and the reduction of bad taste and odor in potable drinking water. Feed water requirements include H2S up to 10 ppm, color or tannin under 50 color units, ferrous iron up to 3 ppm, manganese up to 2 ppm, a pH range of 5.5 to 9.5, hardness under 140 ppm, alkalinity under 120 ppm, and temperature from 41 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit.

For best results, Enpress recommends pairing PIONEER OX with pre and post filtration such as pleated filters and carbon blocks, which protect the media and polish the finished water. The improved stability against pH upset helps prevent desorption of bound contaminants both during use and in landfill conditions. With surface loading up to 13 gpm per sq ft for color and H2S and a service flow under 7.5 gpm per cu ft, this versatile cartridge gives installers a powerful, certified tool for solving challenging multi-contaminant water problems in a single, convenient stage.
