Description

High-purity magnesium-oxide (MgO) pH-correction media for acidic, low-pH water. Gently raises pH and remineralizes soft/corrosive water to protect pipes, fixtures and appliances from acid damage and blue-green (copper) staining. It does not soften water or remove iron. Fast-acting; often blended with calcite. Test pH and hardness before dosing.

Neutralizing Media in a Half Cubic Foot

FloMag is a magnesium-based neutralizing media used to correct acidic, low-pH water, offered here as a half cubic foot box in a UPS-ready package. Acidic water is a quiet troublemaker: it is corrosive by nature, slowly attacking the metals in your plumbing and fixtures. FloMag counters this by dissolving gradually into the water as it flows through the bed, adding alkalinity and raising the pH toward a neutral, far less aggressive range. The result is water that is gentler on your pipes, your fittings, and your appliances.

Recognizing the Need for It

Low-pH water usually reveals itself through the damage it leaves. Blue-green stains in sinks, tubs, and around fixtures are the classic sign of copper being leached from the plumbing. Pinhole leaks in copper lines, a metallic taste in the water, and corrosion showing up at fittings all point toward acidic water. These problems are especially common on private wells. Treating the water with a neutralizing media gets at the cause, correcting the chemistry so the staining and corrosion stop rather than simply cleaning up after them again and again.

How It Works in Service

This media fills a backwashing filter tank fitted with a control valve, riser tube, and lower distributor, usually resting on a gravel support bed. As it raises pH, the media is gradually consumed, so the bed slowly depletes and needs periodic replenishment; the half cubic foot box is a convenient size for topping up. The control valve backwashes the bed to keep it loose and evenly spread. Because neutralizing media gets used up doing its job, keeping some on hand makes the routine of maintaining the bed painless.

Match It to Your Water

Neutralizing media performs best when it suits how acidic your water is and how much you draw, so a short conversation helps get it right. Tell us about your water and your tank, and we will help you confirm the media and the quantity you need. We include the documentation we have available, and the Water Softener Plus team is glad to walk you through loading the bed, setting the backwash, and topping up the media so your water stays in a friendlier, less corrosive range.
