Private wells aren't treated by a municipality, so what comes out of the tap is whatever is in the ground. The three most common well-water problems — iron, sulfur, and bacteria — each have a proven fix.
Iron (orange/brown staining)
Iron stains sinks, toilets, and laundry. An iron filter oxidizes and removes it before it reaches your fixtures — and protects a downstream softener from fouling.
Sulfur (rotten-egg smell)
That sulfur smell is hydrogen sulfide gas. Oxidizing filtration removes the odor at the source rather than masking it.
Bacteria (disinfection)
For microbiological safety, a UV disinfection system inactivates bacteria and viruses with no chemicals — the standard for well water. For drinking water, pair it with reverse osmosis for the cleanest possible glass.
Order matters
Treat in sequence: sediment/iron → softener → UV → RO at the tap. Need the install and service docs? They're free in our manuals library.
