How it works — the air injection oxidation
The Nelsen AIO Iron Filter uses an advanced air injection oxidation process to remove dissolved iron without chemicals or salt. Inside the single 10" x 44" structural mineral tank, the system maintains an oxygen-rich air pocket at the top of the tank while water passes through.
As water rises through this air pocket, the dissolved iron oxidizes from a soluble form into solid particles. These particles are then trapped within the filter media bed below, effectively filtering iron out of your water supply.
To keep the system operating efficiently, a Fleck 2510SXT control valve automatically performs a daily backwash. This backwash flushes accumulated iron particles to the drain and replenishes the air pocket, sustaining the oxidation process. This self-regenerating cycle requires minimal maintenance, ensuring reliable, chemical-free iron removal for your household.
