Descrizione
Premium coconut-shell activated carbon media for whole-house or backwashing carbon filters. Reduces chlorine, chloramine, taste, odor and organic compounds (VOCs). This is carbon filtration media — NOT an ion-exchange softener resin and does not remove hardness.
Premium Coconut Shell Carbon
Jacobi AquaSorb 1240CS is a coconut shell based activated carbon media, supplied here in a one cubic foot box. Coconut shell carbon is prized in water treatment because of the dense, fine network of pores that forms when the shell is activated, giving the media an enormous internal surface area for adsorption. As water passes slowly through a bed of this carbon, dissolved organic compounds, chlorine, and the tastes and odors they carry are drawn onto the carbon surface and held there, leaving the water noticeably cleaner and better tasting.
What It Improves in Your Water
Homeowners turn to activated carbon when their water is technically safe but unpleasant to live with. Chlorine that leaves a swimming-pool taste, a musty or earthy smell, or a general dullness on the palate are all classic targets for carbon filtration. Because coconut shell carbon is so hard and clean-burning in its manufacture, it produces very little dust and holds up well to the repeated backwashing that a filter tank goes through, which makes it a favorite for whole-home taste-and-odor systems as well as point-of-use setups.
Where It Lives in the System
This media is designed to fill a backwashing filter tank fitted with a control valve, a riser tube, and a lower distributor, usually over a supporting bed of gravel. The valve periodically backwashes the carbon to loosen the bed, flush away trapped particles, and reset the media for continued service. When your existing carbon has lost its punch and chlorine taste or odor starts creeping back, recharging the tank with fresh media brings performance right back.
Buying the Right Amount
The volume of carbon you need depends on your tank size and how the bed is layered, so it helps to plan the fill before you buy. Tell us your tank dimensions and what you are trying to remove, and we will help you confirm both the media choice and the quantity. We include the documentation we have available, and the Water Softener Plus team is happy to guide you through loading the carbon, setting the backwash, and getting the system rinsed and running the way it should.
