Descripción
This is the Fleck Piston Assembly for the 9500 Upper, Hot Water version (FL60108-01). It is the upper-section piston for the high-capacity Fleck 9500 control valve, configured with hot-water-rated materials for service in elevated-temperature softening and conditioning systems. On the 9500's twin-piston design, the upper and lower pistons must work in concert, and this is the heat-resistant upper component.
Because the 9500 uses coordinated upper and lower pistons to route flow through service and the multi-stage regeneration sequence, matching the correct upper assembly is essential for proper valve operation and accurate cycle timing.
- Upper piston assembly for the Fleck 9500 control valve
- Hot water (HW) configuration for high-temperature service
- Routes flow through the upper section of the cycle
- Genuine Pentair Fleck part, valve model 9500, about 0.58 lbs
- Heat-resistant materials guard against premature wear
- Designed to work in concert with the lower piston
Why hot water rating matters
Hot water can quickly degrade standard valve elastomers and accelerate piston wear, so the HW version uses materials selected for the elevated temperatures common in commercial and industrial process applications. Installing a standard piston in a hot water system risks rapid failure, leaks, and the cost of returning to redo the repair, so using the correct hot-water-rated part the first time is well worth it.
As the upper piston and its seals wear, the 9500 can develop internal bypass leakage, weak regeneration, or untreated water reaching the service line, and on a twin-piston valve a problem in the upper section can throw off the coordination with the lower drive. Catching wear early during routine service avoids a larger failure.
When servicing, replace the matching hot water seals and spacers along with the piston so new parts seal against new parts, and apply a light film of silicone lubricant to ease assembly. Confirm the upper and lower pistons and cams are timed correctly during reassembly so the cycle sequences properly. Always place the valve in bypass, relieve pressure, and disconnect power before opening the control head. Renewing the upper piston and its hot water seals together, before wear becomes severe, keeps the twin-piston 9500 properly coordinated and protects the elevated-temperature process or supply it serves.
