A 1-1/2" stainless steel electronic meter monitors actual consumption so regeneration is demand-based, and a Nelsen 1-1/2" MAV (Motorized Alternating Valve) automatically switches service between the two tanks. The metered approach keeps the system from regenerating on a fixed schedule, instead cycling only when softening capacity has truly been used.
