Beskrivning
The Air Gap Drain Line Air Gap is a recessed wall-mount unit designed to fit into washing machine outlet boxes with 1-1/2" standpipes, providing a code-compliant air gap for water softener or reverse osmosis drain discharge. An air gap creates a physical break in the drain line that makes it impossible for wastewater to siphon back into your treated-water equipment, protecting the quality and safety of your drinking water. This unit also carries the alternate part number AG140-002.
Engineered for Clean, Quiet Drainage
This air gap is designed to share the drainpipe with a washing machine discharge. It features a 1/2" OD inlet port that fits 1/2" schedule 40 PVC slip fittings with an O-ring, and a 3/4" OD outlet. Included is a 4" long, 7/8" ID flexible rubber hose that connects the outlet to the standpipe and fits recessed washing machine outlet boxes with 1-1/2" or 2" standpipes. To keep operation completely dry, the unit uses splash guards that are an integral part of the design and visible through the side air gap window, eliminating any water droplets that might otherwise splatter out of the openings during the initial discharge surge. A built-in flow straightener smooths and quiets the turbulent flow that can create objectionable splashing noise as water enters the P-trap.
- Recessed wall-mount design for washing machine outlet boxes with 1-1/2" standpipes
- 1/2" OD inlet (fits 1/2" sch. 40 PVC slip) and 3/4" OD outlet
- Splash guards and flow straightener for dry, quiet operation
- Tested at 15 gallons per minute; recommended usage 7 gallons per minute
- Includes vertical wall mounting bracket, four Phillips pan head screws, and flexible standpipe hose
- UPC Listed, IPC and NSF tested; legal to install in any state
The multiple air gap openings exceed the code-mandated minimum vertical opening, and the unit allows space for a washer drain hook or soft rubber washer hose to share the standpipe. For best results, locate the P-trap at least 20" below the top of the standpipe, use a 22-degree elbow inline with the standpipe positioned at least 12" from the air gap to avoid direct drainage to the P-trap and eliminate splashback, and mount the unit securely to a vertical wall or the back of the outlet box using the provided bracket and screws.
