This is the Fleck Plug (FL19691), a recessed black plug with a 0.750-inch diameter used as a port closure or finishing component within Fleck control valves. Plugs like this seal off unused passages or ports in the valve body and cover, ensuring water and brine follow only their intended paths during service and regeneration. A correctly seated plug is a small thing that quietly keeps the valve's internal hydraulics honest.

The standalone plug has been discontinued. It remains available as part of several Fleck service kits, namely FL62103-02, FL62103-30, and FL62103-50. When a rebuild calls for this plug, order one of those kits to receive the current equivalent for your valve.

Small closure components are easy to overlook, but a missing or improperly seated plug can create internal cross-leaks that sap regeneration efficiency and let untreated water bypass the media bed. During a valve rebuild, inspect all plugs and caps for cracks, distortion, or a poor seal, and replace any that show wear. A new plug is inexpensive insurance against an annoying, hard-to-trace performance loss. As always, place the valve in bypass and relieve pressure before opening the control head for service, and apply a light film of silicone lubricant to the plug's O-ring during reassembly for a clean, watertight fit. Keeping a few of these inexpensive plugs in your service kit means you are never held up by a single missing closure when a rebuild is otherwise ready to go back together. Taking the time to verify every port is correctly capped before returning the valve to service is a small discipline that pays off in consistent softening and predictable salt usage for years afterward.
