Excessive iron issues in your water is typically characterized by the ugly red or brown colored staining in your plumbing fixtures, sinks, toilets and laundry.

With well water, iron typically occurs in a ferrous state. That means, the flowing water typically looks clear.

However, once the water is exposed to the air, the iron transforms into a ferric/ oxidized state. The clear water will turn red or brown and insoluble “rust” type material will form.

Iron staining can be easily caused by as low as only 0.3 milligrams per liter (mg/L).

Depending on the iron content concentration, we have several solutions to this ugly and aggravating water problem.

A quality iron filter will filter out this excessive iron content.

    Works wonderful

Our water was horrible with the hydrogen sulfide (rotten egg) smell. This thing took it out completely. It was easy to hook up but be sure to follow the set up instructions exactly. Had to call for help because I didn't read the instructions properly and they were awesome. The only bad thing is its noisy when it's flushing itself out and you loose water pressure then too. Otherwise we are very happy.

A year in and still working great!

I installed this after my pressure tank over a year ago. Before installation my wife refused to do laundry at our house and was taking loads up to the laundry mat a couple times a week. We also had stains in our sinks, toilets, bath tub, dog dishes, etc. Lab results indicate that total iron was detected in a sample of our untreated water at concentration of 1.63 mg/L. After installing, we removed these stains and they have not returned. Also seems to have reduced clogging in the pipe that drains my kitchen sink, which was getting clogged with a white/yellow precipitate about once every other month. I have not touched the filter since installation and iron has not been an issue. I wish I had installed this sooner.

    It works

Sulfur smell and some mild iron staining all gone now. I do wish there was an option to only backwash after so many gallons rather than number of days since this is on our vacation home and we are not always there using water. I changed it to only backwash every 14 days, we will see how it goes.
