Clear iron and rusty staining from well water — no chemicals
If your well water leaves orange or brown stains in toilets, tubs, and laundry, dissolved iron is almost always the cause. The Nelsen AIO Iron Filter System removes it using air-injection oxidation, a clean, chemical-free process that turns invisible dissolved iron into filterable particles and traps them before they ever reach your fixtures.
Signs you have an iron problem
Rust-colored rings in the toilet bowl, reddish-brown stains that reappear on sinks and showers no matter how often you scrub, a metallic taste, and dingy whites coming out of the wash are all classic symptoms of dissolved iron. Left untreated, iron builds up inside water heaters, dishwashers, and plumbing, shortening their life and feeding iron bacteria that can clog pipes.
How air injection works
A cushion of air is held in the top of the single treatment tank. As well water passes through that air pocket, dissolved ferrous iron is oxidized into solid ferric particles. The filter media bed below captures those particles, delivering clear water to the house. On its regular backwash cycle the system flushes the trapped iron to drain and draws in a fresh pocket of air — so it renews itself automatically, with no salt and no chemical feed to refill.
What you get
- One-tank simplicity: oxidation and filtration happen in a single vessel, so there is less to install and maintain.
- Chemical-free operation: nothing to buy, mix, or store — just air and periodic backwashing.
- Stain protection: stops the rust staining that ruins fixtures, appliances, and white laundry.
- Automatic upkeep: the control valve manages backwash and air renewal on a schedule you set.
Installation and upkeep
The system installs on the main line where water enters the home, ahead of the water heater, and needs a drain for backwash and a standard outlet for the valve. Day-to-day maintenance is minimal — there is no salt to haul and no cartridge to change; the automatic backwash does the work.
Air-injection iron filters work best on water where iron is the primary concern; if your well also has hardness, sulfur odor, or low pH, those are best addressed with matched stages in the correct order so nothing fouls the media. Not sure what is in your water? Send us your well test and we will confirm the right configuration and size the system to your flow rate and iron level at no charge. Sized to your water
Iron levels and household demand both affect the right tank and media volume, so a quick water test and an estimate of your peak flow let us specify a system that clears the iron without over- or under-sizing. Share those numbers and we will match the build, confirm the correct backwash settings, and stand behind it with responsive US-based support.
