विवरण

This Legend Valve relief valve is a 1/2" economy-pattern brass valve factory-set to relieve at 75 psi, providing essential overpressure protection for water systems and equipment. Relief valves are a fundamental safety component in any pressurized water system: they remain firmly closed during normal operation and then open automatically the instant system pressure climbs to their set point, venting the excess pressure to protect tanks, pumps, fittings, and plumbing from the damage that overpressure can cause.

The combination of a 75 psi relief setting and a compact 1/2" size makes this valve a practical, cost-effective fit for a wide range of residential and light-duty water applications. It is commonly used on well pressure systems and similar installations where guarding against pressure spikes is important for both equipment longevity and safety. The male iron pipe thread (MIPT) connection allows for straightforward installation at a pressure tank, a manifold, or another appropriate point in the system where pressure protection is needed, threading directly into a matching female fitting.

  • 1/2" relief valve with a 75 psi factory relief setting
  • Economy-pattern design for cost-effective pressure protection
  • Durable, corrosion-resistant brass construction
  • Male iron pipe thread (MIPT) connection for easy installation
  • Opens automatically to vent dangerous overpressure conditions
  • Compact and lightweight at approximately 0.36 lbs

Overpressure in a water system can arise from several causes, including a failed or stuck pressure switch, thermal expansion as water is heated, or a malfunctioning pump that fails to shut off, and without a relief valve in place any of these conditions can damage expensive equipment or even create a safety hazard. Installing a properly rated relief valve is a simple and inexpensive way to protect an entire system from these risks. Before installation, verify that the 75 psi setting and the 1/2" size are appropriate for your specific application, route the valve's discharge to a safe location where released water will not cause damage, and follow both local code and the manufacturer's installation guidance. It is also good practice to inspect a relief valve periodically over its service life, since mineral buildup or corrosion can eventually affect how freely it operates, and a valve that has weeped or discharged should be checked to confirm it reseats properly and continues to provide the overpressure protection the system depends on.
