Featuring top-tier models like the Nelsen RO Systems, Nimbus Sierra NSF Certified RO, and the versatile Elite Booster and Aqua Elite II series, these systems provide advanced multi-stage filtration designed specifically for home use. Whether you're looking for a compact 25 gallons per day (GPD) unit or a high-capacity 100 GPD system, our Residential RO collection offers reliable, certified, and efficient water purification solutions tailored to your household needs.

How Residential RO Systems Work

Reverse Osmosis technology uses a semi-permeable membrane to remove impurities, contaminants, and unwanted particles from your tap water. Residential RO systems typically incorporate multiple filtration stages, each targeting specific types of contaminants:

• Pre-filters: These usually include sediment and carbon filters that remove chlorine, rust, dirt, and large particles, protecting the RO membrane.
• RO Membrane: The heart of the system, this membrane removes dissolved solids, heavy metals, salts, and other microscopic contaminants.
• Post-filters: Often activated carbon filters, these improve taste and remove any residual odors.

For example, the Nelsen RO Sys 5-Stage offers a robust five-stage filtration process with a 50 GPD capacity, ensuring thorough purification for most family needs. The Nimbus Sierra 30 GPD system brings NSF certification, providing an added layer of assurance regarding performance and safety. Elite Booster RO models range from 25 to 50 GPD, incorporating enhanced features like ECF (Enhanced Carbon Filtration) and Fct P (Factory Packaged filters) for convenience and improved contaminant removal. The Aqua Elite II 100 GPD system is ideal for larger households or users with higher water consumption, providing a higher output while maintaining water quality.

How to Choose the Right Residential RO System

Selecting the perfect RO system depends on several factors related to your household water quality, daily water consumption, and space availability:

• Water Quality: Test your water to identify contaminants present. If your source water contains heavy metals, high TDS (total dissolved solids), or specific contaminants, choose systems with advanced filtration stages, such as those with pre-carb filters or enhanced carbon filtration (ECF).
• Certification: For peace of mind, consider NSF-certified systems like the Nimbus Sierra RO Sys 30 GPD, which meet strict standards for safety and contaminant reduction.
• Capacity and Flow Rate: Match the GPD rating to your household size and water usage. Single-person households may find 25-35 GPD systems sufficient, while larger families should consider 50 GPD or higher models like the Aqua Elite II 100 GPD.
• Additional Features: Some models include booster pumps (Elite Booster series) to maintain optimal water pressure, especially in low-pressure environments, and factory-packaged filters (Fct Pkg) for ease of installation and maintenance.

Sizing and Compatibility Considerations

Before purchasing a Residential RO System, ensure compatibility with your home's plumbing and water pressure conditions:

• Water Pressure: Standard RO systems require a certain minimum water pressure (usually around 40-60 psi). Models with booster pumps, such as the Elite Booster RO series, are designed to perform well even in low-pressure environments.
• Space Requirements: RO systems vary in size. Compact models like the Nelsen Premier RO Sys 5-Stage fit conveniently under most kitchen sinks, while larger capacity units like the Aqua Elite II 100 GPD require more installation space.
• Filter Compatibility and Replacement: Check that replacement filters for your chosen system are readily available and easy to replace. Systems with factory-packaged filters often simplify this process.
• Water Source: Confirm your water source type (municipal, well, etc.) and its characteristics to ensure the system can handle contaminants typical for your area.

Maintenance of Residential RO Systems

Maintaining your RO system is essential for consistent water quality and system longevity. Follow these general maintenance tips:

• Regular Filter Replacement: Pre-filters and post-filters generally need changing every 6-12 months, depending on usage and water quality. The RO membrane typically requires replacement every 2-3 years.
• Sanitize System Annually: Perform an annual sanitization of the RO system to prevent bacterial growth.
• Monitor Water Quality: Periodically test the purified water for TDS levels to ensure your system is functioning properly.
• Check for Leaks and Pressure Drops: Inspect fittings, tubing, and storage tanks for leaks or pressure inconsistencies.

The Elite series, featuring ECF and Precarb filters, may provide extended filter life and improved contaminant removal, reducing maintenance frequency. Systems with factory-packaged filters (Fct Pkg) simplify the replacement process, minimizing installation errors and downtime.

FAQ

Q? What is the difference between the Elite Booster RO models and the standard Elite RO systems?
The Elite Booster RO systems include a booster pump that enhances water pressure, improving filtration efficiency and output, especially in low-pressure household water supplies. Standard Elite RO systems operate without booster pumps and depend on existing home water pressure.

Q? Are NSF certifications important when choosing an RO system?
Yes, NSF certification ensures that the system has been independently tested to meet strict standards for contaminant reduction and material safety. The Nimbus Sierra RO Sys 30 GPD is an example of an NSF-certified unit, providing added assurance of water quality and system reliability.

Q? How do I know what GPD capacity I need for my home?
Estimate daily water use for drinking and cooking by multiplying the number of household members by approximately 1 to 2 gallons per person per day. Smaller households may be well-served by 25-35 GPD units, while larger families or those with higher water needs should consider systems with 50 GPD or greater capacity, such as the Nelsen 50 GPD RO or Aqua Elite II 100 GPD.
