Sand Trap

The Sand Trap offers a clever, low-maintenance way to remove sand, shale, and oxidized organics from problem water supplies, and it does so with absolutely no moving parts. Instead of relying on disposable cartridges or backwashing media that need attention and replacement, it harnesses simple physics to do the work. Incoming water enters an internal swirl chamber and then passes across a diverting plate, an arrangement that slows the flow and uses centrifugal action so that the heavier particles drop out of suspension and settle quietly to the bottom of the tank, where they can later be flushed away during a blow-down cycle.

This entirely passive approach is what makes the Sand Trap so exceptionally easy to live with day to day. There are no filter cartridges to clean or replace on a schedule, no backwash cycles to program or worry about, and no electricity required to run it at all, which together make it an ideal solution for well systems plagued by gritty, sandy, or sediment-heavy water. With 1-inch inlet and outlet connections, it integrates readily into point-of-entry plumbing, where it is best installed ahead of pumps, softeners, filters, and other equipment that abrasive grit can otherwise wear out or damage over time.

Periodic blow-down is all it takes to empty the settled sediment from the bottom of the tank, and for truly hands-off operation an optional Auto Flush Valve can be added to perform an automatic daily blow-down of accumulated sediment without any manual effort.
