الوصف
High-purity magnesium-oxide (MgO) pH-correction media for acidic, low-pH water. Gently raises pH and remineralizes soft/corrosive water to protect pipes, fixtures and appliances from acid damage and blue-green (copper) staining. It does not soften water or remove iron. Fast-acting; often blended with calcite. Test pH and hardness before dosing.
Raising pH the calcite-and-magnesia way
FloMag 66 is a calcined magnesium-oxide blend media, boxed by the cubic foot, used to neutralize acidic, low-pH water. Blended with or following calcite, its higher solubility gives it more neutralizing punch, which is what lets it lift stubbornly low pH that calcite alone cannot fully correct, protecting copper and galvanized plumbing from the slow corrosion that acidic water causes.
How it is used
The media dissolves slowly as it does its job, so the bed is topped up periodically rather than backwashed clean and reused indefinitely. Because it can raise hardness slightly as it neutralizes, it is often paired with a softener downstream. Send us your pH and, ideally, alkalinity, and we will help you decide on a FloMag-and-calcite blend ratio, size the bed, and plan the replenishment interval.
Blending for the pH you need
Calcite alone typically lifts pH into the low-to-mid neutral range; where water is more aggressive, a measured proportion of FloMag's magnesium oxide pushes it the rest of the way. Because too much can overshoot and raise hardness more than necessary, the blend ratio is worth getting right, and we will suggest a starting proportion from your test numbers and help you fine-tune it.
Replenishment, not backwash-and-reuse
Neutralizing media is sacrificial: it dissolves as it corrects acidity, so the bed is topped up on a schedule rather than lasting indefinitely. We will estimate your replenishment interval from your pH, flow, and usage so the correction stays steady.
Handling and volume
Packaged by the cubic foot for manageable shipping; tell us your tank size and we will confirm how much media to load and how to layer it with calcite for a stable, long-lasting neutralizing bed.
