Small but indispensable, the John Guest 1/4" Locking Clip from Reliance Worldwide Corporation adds an extra measure of security to every push-fit connection in your water treatment system. It snaps over the collet of a John Guest fitting to hold it firmly in place, guarding against accidental tube release during handling, pressure spikes, or vibration. For the few cents it costs, it is some of the cheapest insurance available against a slow leak inside an under-sink cabinet.

On a push-to-connect fitting, the collet is the ring that locks the tube once it is inserted. A locking clip wedges between the collet and the fitting body, physically blocking the collet from being pushed in, which in turn prevents the tube from backing out. This safeguard is especially valuable in reverse osmosis and under-sink filtration installations, where a single loosened tube can flood a cabinet long before anyone notices the problem.

Why Installers Use Them

  • Secures the collet to prevent accidental tube disconnection
  • Made from durable, corrosion-resistant polypropylene
  • Sized specifically for 1/4" John Guest push-fit fittings
  • Tool-free installation that snaps on and off by hand
  • Ideal for RO systems, drinking-water filters, and ice maker lines
  • Reusable, so it can be removed and refitted during servicing

Installation could not be simpler. After seating your 1/4" tubing fully into a John Guest fitting and confirming the grip with a gentle tug, clip the locking ring around the exposed collet so it sits flush against the fitting body. To service the line later, pop the clip off, depress the collet, and the tube releases cleanly. Because the clip is reusable, you can refit it once the connection is remade. Keep a handful on hand whenever you build or maintain water filtration and conditioning equipment, and add one to every connection that matters. This John Guest locking clip turns a good push-fit joint into a connection you can walk away from with confidence.

Although it is one of the least expensive parts in a filtration build, the locking clip arguably prevents the most expensive failures. A loosened tube under a sink can release water unnoticed for hours, ruining cabinetry and flooring. Spending a few cents per connection to lock each collet is a habit seasoned installers swear by, and homeowners servicing their own systems quickly appreciate the difference in peace of mind.
