Description

High-purity magnesium-oxide (MgO) pH-correction media for acidic, low-pH water. Gently raises pH and remineralizes soft/corrosive water to protect pipes, fixtures and appliances from acid damage and blue-green (copper) staining. It does not soften water or remove iron. Fast-acting; often blended with calcite. Test pH and hardness before dosing.

A Media for Neutralizing Acidic Water

FloMag is a magnesium-based filter media used to raise the pH of acidic water, supplied here in a compact .10 cubic foot UPS package that is handy for small tanks and top-ups. Acidic, low-pH water is aggressive: it slowly dissolves the metals it touches, and it does so quietly until the damage shows. FloMag works by gradually dissolving into the water as it passes through the bed, adding alkalinity and lifting the pH toward a more neutral, less corrosive range so the water is gentler on everything it contacts.

Signs You Have Acidic Water

Low-pH water tends to announce itself through the damage it causes. Blue-green staining on fixtures and in sinks or tubs is a telltale sign of copper being leached from the plumbing. Pinhole leaks in copper lines, a persistent metallic taste, and corrosion at fittings all point the same direction. If you are seeing these symptoms, especially on a private well, a neutralizing media addresses the root cause by treating the water chemistry rather than just chasing the stains it leaves behind.

How It Fits and Serves

This media goes into a backwashing filter tank with a control valve, riser tube, and lower distributor, generally over a gravel support layer. As the media does its work it is slowly consumed, so the bed depletes over time and needs periodic replenishment, which is exactly what a small package like this makes convenient. The valve backwashes the bed to keep it loose and evenly distributed. Because neutralizing media is used up in the process of raising pH, keeping some on hand for top-ups is a sensible habit.

Match It to Your Water

Neutralizing media works best when it is matched to how acidic your water actually is and how much you use, so a quick conversation helps get it right. Tell us about your water and your tank, and we will help you confirm the media and the quantity you need. We include the documentation we have on file, and the Water Softener Plus team is glad to walk you through loading, backwash settings, and the routine of topping up the bed so your water stays in a friendlier range.
