Description

The Pentair Fleck BLFC Assembly (1.0 GPM, 3/8") is a brine line flow control used on Fleck 5812 valves to meter the rate at which water refills the brine tank. By holding a fixed 1.0 gallon-per-minute flow through a 3/8" brine line, it ensures the correct amount of water enters the tank to dissolve the proper salt dose for each regeneration. It is part of the Fleck BLFC service family and is matched to the 5812 control valve.

Why Flow Control Matters

The brine line flow control is a small, calibrated orifice that resists changes in household water pressure to deliver a consistent fill rate. If brine refill flow is too fast or too slow, the salt concentration drawn into the resin during regeneration will be off, leading to wasted salt on one hand or under-regenerated media and hard-water bleed-through on the other. Because the amount of water added directly determines how much salt dissolves, a calibrated BLFC effectively sets the salt dose for every cycle and takes the guesswork out of softener tuning.

  • Genuine Fleck 5812 brine line flow control assembly
  • Rated at 1.0 GPM through a 3/8" brine line
  • Sets precise brine-tank refill volume
  • Holds steady flow despite household pressure changes
  • Helps optimize salt efficiency and softening performance
  • Compact, easy-to-replace service part

This assembly is a frequently replaced wear item on residential softeners, since hard or sediment-laden water can leave scale and debris that clog the small flow-control orifice over time. A fouled BLFC throws off refill volume and can cause salty water or a slow return of hardness. If you've recently changed your brine line size, replaced media, or are dialing in salt efficiency on a 5812-based system, matching the BLFC to your line diameter and target flow is essential. Confirm the 1.0 GPM rating and 3/8" size suit your configuration, clear any debris from the fitting during service, and verify the brine tank fills to the expected level after installation. Because the flow control directly governs salt efficiency, keeping it clean and correctly rated is one of the simplest ways to control operating costs while ensuring the water stays reliably soft throughout the home.
