Description
This genuine Pentair Fleck Drive Cam is the timing cam used in the Fleck 2850S control valve. As the valve's drive motor turns, the drive cam rotates and its lobes trip the internal microswitches that advance the piston through service, backwash, brine draw, slow rinse, and fast rinse positions on a precise, repeatable schedule. Without an accurately shaped cam, the valve cannot keep proper time, and the entire regeneration sequence falls out of step.
At just 0.06 lb, the drive cam is a small but absolutely critical part. If it cracks, strips a tooth, or wears down at the lobes after years of cycling, the valve may stall mid-cycle, skip a regeneration stage, fail to return to service, or hold in one position far too long. Any of these faults can leave you with hard water, wasted salt, or a valve that simply stops working. Replacing the cam restores correct, consistent timing to the 2850S head.
- Genuine Fleck 2850S drive cam
- Synchronizes valve cycle positions with the drive motor
- Trips the internal microswitches in correct sequence
- Direct replacement for worn, cracked, or stripped cams
- Restores reliable regeneration sequencing
- Compact, lightweight service component
A Workhorse Valve Platform
The Fleck 2850S is widely used on larger residential and commercial softeners and filters where higher flow rates and capacity are required, so keeping the drive cam in good condition is essential to system uptime. Installers often replace the cam alongside the drive motor, gears, and microswitches during a full control-head service, since these timing components tend to wear together. Always disconnect power before opening the cover, and follow Pentair's documented timing and indexing procedure when reassembling so the cam aligns correctly with the piston position. Doing so ensures every stage of the cycle begins and ends exactly where it should. Because the cam coordinates the mechanical drive with the electrical microswitches, even slight wear at a single lobe can ripple through the entire cycle and produce symptoms that seem unrelated to timing at first glance, so inspecting it during any control-head service is good practice. A correctly indexed drive cam is the foundation of every reliable regeneration, which is why technicians treat it as a key checkpoint when restoring an older 2850S to dependable, set-and-forget operation.
